INDIANA UPLANDS
The Hoosier hills of southern Indiana, branded as the Indiana Uplands in more recent years, occupy a cultural seam between the Midwest and the Upland South. A place where Appalachian roots run quietly beneath the surface of everyday Hoosier life.
This long-form film project documents the people, places, and regional traditions that persist alongside, and sometimes in contrast to, more mainstream connected culture. It is a handpicked record of real people, real places, and real moments. I've chosen to focus on intention — ways of life deliberately continued, traditions actively tended, and uncelebrated moments of cultural significance connected to this place I call home, where my own ancestry traces back to at least 1827.
