Seth Teeters (b. 1988) is a photographer born in Bloomington, Indiana, focusing on long-form lyric documentary projects, capturing lived reality through a poetic register. His work is defined by the sustained gaze of the insider, returning over years to subjects of personal significance, while, in parallel, remaining receptive to discovery, following threads where he finds his own lived experience and faded memories are reflected in the present. His current body of work, Indiana Uplands, is a personal and cultural reflection on the region of Southern Indiana where his family has lived for two hundred years. It is the central focus he has chosen as his photography has evolved from commercial to personal, and is the ground from which everything else extends. Beneath its subject, the work is an attempt to do now what he cannot do for the past: return to a moment, while it is still here, and record a clear picture of it that can impart some of the weight of being, rather than just seeing.
