I've always aspired to be more closely connected to my food. Growing up, we hunted, fished, foraged for morels, bought corn and tomatoes from the farmer just down the road, and surplus produce occasionally showed up from the gardens of friends. In my adult life, I try to continue many of those traditions.

Throughout the countryside in Indiana, as in many places, there are farm stands where fresh produce is available to the local community, directly from farmers, gardeners, and otherwise friendly neighbors. These photos are snapshots from countryside drives, whether the farm stand was the destination or a surprise encounter along the journey.
